Coal Harbour

Coal Harbour is a prestigious neighbourhood of Vancouver Downtown. It’s bordered in the East by Canada Place and in the West by Stanley Park. This young neighbourhood is the perfect meeting place of nature and modernity. People can enjoy a billion amazing views from their skyscraper apartments. Fifteen years ago, this part of Downtown was constituted of marinas, garages and railway tracks. Today however, it is one of the most attractive places in Vancouver. Otherwise, to get to this neighbourhood from UBC is not really difficult. Many options are available. We chose to take the 99 express down Broadway and get off at Broadway City Hall station. Then, we took the skytrain to Water front station and we finally walked 10 minutes to arrive at the beautiful destination.

As mentioned just before, this neighbourhood is the perfect harmony between the nature and the urbanity. Many skyscrapers are in this part of Downtown. The style used is really interesting. It’s a fusion of Asian and North American style. The residences are mostly condominiums. The luxury suites are really expensive. Only well-off people can live there. Furthermore, these buildings are built with the convention to respect the environment. The parks and the several green areas make this neighbourhood a place of Downtown where we can breathe fresh air. Coal harbour Park is a beautiful place beside the buildings. It’s perfect for relaxing and talking with friends. Otherwise, the marina in this neighbourhood is a real good hang-out spot. Moreover, Coal Harbour is a good destination for tourists. Many hotels were built recently. From your room, you can admire the mountains and the sea. Further, we find high-quality restaurants in this neighbourhood. However the prices are also really high!

Coast Coal Harbour Hotel:

Coast Coal Harbour hotel is a prestigious hotel of Downtown. The building is composed of three parts. The one in the middle is the most beautiful and the highest. This skyscraper is pretty new. The modern style makes the architecture really original. There is also a green space all around the building. It shows the environmental side of the hotel. Otherwise, there are inside simple rooms, doubles rooms and luxury suites. A night in this hotel is very expensive. However, the amazing view from the window compensates the price.

Second building:
The second building is also a hotel, but it’s not a skyscraper. So, the style is different. The name of the building is Renaissance Hotel. It seems older than the first one. This one also has a big terrace with trees and a beautiful Canada flag. Each room has its own balcony. This is a good thing if someone wants to breathe fresh air from his apartment. The color of the building is white.

In fact, we would like to indicate that in this neighbourhood, we have many modern buildings. The expensive life in this part of Downtown is certainly for high class people. In my opinion, it’s an awesome neighbourhood where you can find three beautiful things: ocean, green spaces and nice designed buildings. Even though it’s such a great neighbourhood, I can’t live in it because I’m not that kind of person who prefers to live in the crowded places although I come from a city of two million people.

If we compare this neighbourhood with Downtown Montreal, we would find differences and a bunch of similarities. Indeed, buildings in Montreal are high too; in addition, some of the hotels in this neighbourhood have the same design in the both areas ( e.g. the Marriott hotel). The second similar thing is the little town houses between the huge buildings.

We can easily recognize the differences between those neighbourhoods which are below:
  1. Generally, Vancouver is more modern than Montreal.
  2. Specifically, we find more green spaces in Coal Harbour neighbourhood than downtown Montreal.
  3. The beautiful water view at Coal Harbour gives the neighbourhood specialty unlikely Montreal.
  4. The little houses in Coal Harbour look newer than the ones at downtown Montreal.
