Interview: Simon P.

Simon P. is from Montreal. He has lived there since he was born. Although he has visited many other Canadian cities, such as Toronto, his hometown is still his favorite Canadian Metropolis. Simon finds that Montreal has a special ambiance that he has not found in other cities. However, he does enjoy Vancouver’s atmosphere. Simon likes Vancouver’s many neighborhoods especially the boroughs of Kitsiliano and Gastown.

Simon will begin his first year of university this fall at McGill. Simon’s family is Francophone. He has never lived, worked or studied in an environment where the primary language is English. McGill is a very bilingual school. Simon is attending Explore in order to improve his English speaking ability and prepare for his new school.

Even though Simon’s English is very good, he still wants to become more comfortable speaking the language. Simon regularly reads English magazines such as Newsweek. He is also fond of English movies such as Crash, Babel, and movies by directors, Pedro Almodovar and Quentin Tarantino. As a result, Simon learns English both in and outside of the classroom.
